Wendell H. Sandefur

BEAVER DAM-Wendell H. Sandefur, 88 , of Beaver Dam passed away Thursday October 27, 2016 at the Ohio County Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  Wendell was born in Beaver Dam on September 30, 1928 to the late Cleveland and Nellie Frizzell Sandefur.  He was retired from Peabody Coal Company, Gibraltar Mine in Central City, KY.  Wendell and Madie  were married March 19, 1949 and had been married for 67 years.  Wendell was of the Methodist faith and attended Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, he was a member of UMWA Local 1092, Beaver Dam Masonic Lodge #420 F & AM and a Rizpah Temple Shriner and for many years he was a member of the National Watch Fob Association receiving national honors for his collections.

He was preceded in death by a brother Glendon Sandefur and a sister Ruby S. Kays.

Survivors include his wife Madie Bratcher Sandefur of Beaver Dam; a daughter Ruby Catherine Sandefur  (George) Chinn of Hartford and a son John H. Sandefur of Beaver Dam; one grandson Christopher (Angie) Chinn of Owensboro, KY and one granddaughter Andrea Chinn (Devon) Shelton of Crestwood, KY; great grandchildren-Reagan Chinn, Maddie Chinn, Dylan Chinn of Owensboro, KY ; Anna Cate Shelton and Logan Shelton of Crestwood, KY; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Gary Hardin officiating.  Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.  Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Saturday and from 9AM until funeral time on Sunday at the funeral home.  The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Gideons International.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to bevilbrosfuneralhomes.com
