About Bevil Bros. Funeral Home

With roots dating back to 1915, our funeral home has proudly served families for over a century. The Duke Funeral Home originally founded in 1915 by Edgar F. Duke in Dundee, was built on a foundation of compassion, dignity and dedication to the community. Following Edgar Duke's passing in 1956, his son, Hugh E Duke, Sr., along with his sons, Hugh E.Duke, Jr. and Thomas B. Duke, continued his legacy of care. Under their leadership, a new chapel was opened in Centertown in 1962, and they acquired the Birkhead Funeral Home in Hartford in 1966. The Duke family operated these locations until 1986, when ownership passed to Larry and Kathy and Jerry and Judy Bevil. The named was changed to Duke-Bevil Funeral Home, and later became Bevil Bros. Funeral Homes, Inc.

In 2000, a new chapel was opened in Beaver Dam, designed with families in mind. The new facility includes two spacious chapels, as well as a kitchen and lounge area. In 2001, the Centertown chapel was closed, and following a devastating file that destroyed the Hartford chapel in February of 2012, all operations were consolidated to the Beaver Dam location. In March of 2025, Larry and Jerry Bevil retired after over 40 years of serving area families and the business was purchased by Ohio County native, John Hill. Today, Bevil Bros. Funeral Home continues its proud tradition of service, offering compassionate, personalized care in a welcoming environment. With over 100 years of history behind us, we remain committed to guiding families with respect, sincerity and heart.
