She was a very special lady....I only wished I could have visted her more.....My 3rd cousin, she told me many stories about my Bell family .....All of my family are buried next to her house in the Bell cemetery. ...We all lost so much history with her passing.....God has gained a great and loyal servant.....I can her her him say to her.....Job well done my good and faithful servant....Gonna miss you very much. ....

So very kind was she....my 3rd cousin in which I wished I have got to know better....But the time I shared with her I will always remember. ..All of my Bell relatives are buried next to her home place....I enjoyed all the stories she shared about my relatives...she was a true peace of history for many in her family....God has gained a true angel in which she served him so well....Gonna miss you very much.....

The passing of Mertigene is truly a loss to the citizens of Matanzas and the entire community. I recall her constant kindness and consideration.
I recall as a very small child visiting with her as well as Mr. Silas & Miss Lizzie.
I think we may have been buying sweet potato slips from them but I was too little then to remember for sure.
I always remember the goldfish pond in the yard. Was fascinating to me as a very young child.
May she rest in peace.
