Carol Fleener Obituary

HARTFORD-Carol Y. Whitmer Fleener, 85, from Hartford, KY passed away peacefully, as she slept, on June 18, 2021.  Preceding her in death were her parents Elmo and Lois James Whitmer, her husband  Paul G. Fleener, her son Tim W. Fleener and her two sisters Kay Waters and Karen McKee.  Caro; considered herself blessed with what life had to offer her and always managed to keep her head up and laugh at her mistakes.

Graduating Business College in Wisconsin in the early 1950’s, she then moved to Washington DC where she and eight other young women had goals of working for the US Government.  They nick-named themselves “The House of Nine”.  Carol worked at the Pentagon as a civilian under four US Generals and met Paul during this time.  These women have continued to be in each other’s lives ever since by having regular reunions and contact.

Carol also worked for Ohio County Fiscal Court and Ohio County Park in the late 1980’s and 1990’s.

She is survived by two daughters Paula Fleener Quisenberry and Vicki Fleener Wolfe and son in law James Wolfe.  She was not only a mother to her three children, but continued her motherly duties under the alias of “Memaw”.  Her “2 cents worth” of opinion, along with her ability to hug them close and love away their problems, gave these grandbabies a sense of security and love from her for the rest of their lives.  She sang “Rock a Baby” to each and every one of them.  Her surviving grandchildren are Paula’s two sons Jason and Tiffani Quisenberry and Jed and Heather Quisenberry.  Vicke and Jamis’s daughter Kasey Ann Wolfe, their sons Koty and Emily Wolfe and Tommy and Whitney Wolfe.  After taking a deep breath and declaring “now that we got that done!”, along came more blessings.  Great grandchildren are Jakob and Mady Quisenberry, Landyn Mills, Rhett, Dakota and Weston Wolfe.  She said it time and again, “my cup runneth over, I want for nothing”.

Per Carol’s request, there will be no public service.  A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent to bevilbrosfuneralhomes.com
