Virgil "V.T." Tilman Brigance
July 16, 1935 — February 11, 2017
Centertown- Virgil Tilman “V.T.” Brigance, 81, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born July 16, 1935 in the Equality Community of Ohio County, son of the late Otha & Willie Morris Brigance.
V.T. was a member of Smallhous Missionary Baptist Church, was retired from Peabody Coal Company Ken Surface Mine, was a member of UMWA Local 8941 and had served as 3rd District Magistrate in Ohio County.
He was preceded in death by one son Dennis Brigance, 2 brothers Elgan and Alvey Brigance.
V.T. leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years Betty J. Bullock Brigance, his loving daughter Sheri (Scott Moore) Newcom. V.T.’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy and they will dearly miss him. 2 grandchildren Kyle(Sara) Newcom and Kayla Newcom. Also 4 great grandchildren KyLee, Delaney, Cameron and Preston. V.T. also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Smallhous Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
