Norman "Shorty" Payton

McHenry- Norman “Shorty” Payton, 78, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018.  He was born March 2, 1940 in Pattyville son of the late Clinton and Lela Wilson Payton.

Shorty was a member of Independence Baptist Church, retired from Ohio County Sheriff’s Dept. and was a member of McHenry Masonic Lodge #800 and Fordsville Masonic Lodge #600 for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Payton in 2017. Also preceding was his parents; brothers Charles, Stanley, Oral B., Parvin and Marvin; sisters Nell, Daisy, Betty Raye and Laura.

Survivors include his son Rondall (Kim) Payton; daughter Norma (Kent) Stevens; 3 grandchildren Cindy (Michael) Benitez, Jeff Payton and Clinton “C.J.” Nanney; 2 great grandchildren Emma Benitez and Damion Payton; a sister-Willie Maude Cook.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2017 at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Jerry Toler officiating.  Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry.

Friends may visit with the family Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Masonic Services will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
