Listen to Obituary

Mildred Juanita Erwin, 97, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026 at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab. She was born on August 23, 1928 in Beaver Dam to the late Thomas Murray and Kittye Lee Maddox.

was the oldest member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church in her later years. She was a proud homemaker and member of Taylor Town Homemakers for 74 years. Juanita didn't care for material things or places she went. She showed her loved ones that the most meaningful things in life are simple - love God, love your family, work hard, value education, always help others, and never stop learning. She loved her family deeply, treasured her Bible, and faithfully read it every single day. More than anything else, her greatest passion and life mission, that she shared with her husband, was making sure people knew Jesus. She believed there was no greater purpose than sharing God’s Word, reading the Bible every day, and living out your faith through your actions. She didn’t just talk about her faith; she lived it. Her life was a testimony of love, kindness, humility, and unwavering trust in God. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dorman “Mutt” Jessie Erwin; daughter, Shirley Ann Young; great grandchild, Sophia Rose Erwin; honorary son, Kenneth Bullock; and four brothers, Maurice, Lindel, Lofton, and Joe Maddox.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Linda (John) May and Mike (Debbie) Erwin; honorary daughter, Carolyn Porter; grandchildren, Phillip Farris, Troy (Kim) Farris, Zachary (Sasha) Erwin, Selena (Kyle) Abney, Christopher (Mandy) Young, Daphne (Shane) Ralston, Susan (Shannon) Montgomery, Bryce (Melanie) May and Derrick May; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
