Mervil Phelps

OWENSBORO – Mervil Phelps, 93, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born September 15th, 1931 in Beaver Dam to the late Ellis & Irene Phelps. Mervil was a United States Army Veteran, where he was a paratrooper. He retired from Owensboro National Bank and was a member of Windridge Country Club. He was an avid golfer, card player, and enjoyed the New York Yankees and UK Basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, James Phelps, Gladys Calloway, Louise Bishop and Helen Hinkle.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rachael Phelps; daughter, Lisa Brandle (Rick); two sons, Mike Phelps (Toni) and Brent Phelps; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, May 16th, 2025 at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Online messages of condolence may be made at bevilbrosfuneralhomes.com.
