Lena (Nantz) Hoover

May 3, 1936 — November 15, 2024

Utica-Lena Catherine (Cackie) Hoover of Utica passed away on Friday November 15 at the Heartford House in Owensboro with her family by her side.  Cackie was the daughter of the late  Eb and Emily Nantz of McClean County.  Others preceding her in death was her husband Alvin “H” Hoover, brothers Raymond Nantz, Dalton Nantz and brother in law Marshall Hatfield.  Survivors include her son Rondal Joe Hoover of Taylorville, Illinois, daughter Susanne (Gordon) Williams of Hartford, brother Wendell Nantz of Livermore, sister Sue Hatfield of Calhoun and sisters in law Chris Nantz and Anna Simpson, both of Owensboro.

Cackie retired from Owensboro’s General Electric plant in the mid 70’s.  She was a faithful member of Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Utica where she also served as the church’s custodian for 40 years.  Cackie was a member of the Buford Homemaker’s Club in Ohio County.  She never met a stranger and certainly had the gift of gab, she could out talk anyone and if you’d just met her she treated you as a lifelong friend.

She will definitely be missed by all her family and friends.

Bevil Brothers Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of arrangements with visitation at the funeral home Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Tuesday from 10:00 until the funeral at 11:00 am with Brother Storm Bratcher officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Mt Carmel Church’s cemetery fund, sent to the church or envelope at the funeral home.
