Larry Young

June 2, 1947 — August 29, 2016

Hartford- Larry Young, 69, passed away on Aug. 29, 2016 at his home near Hartford.  He was born June 2, 1947 son of the late Wavey Clayton and Fannie Bell Hendrix Young.

Larry was retired from Montpelier Glove where he worked as supervisor, mechanic and glove cutter.  He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam .  He served in Co B 5th Bn 6th Inf 1st Armd Div FOURTH US ARMY 198th Americal Lib Division and was Honorably Discharged with Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; National Defense Medal; Sharpshooter(Rifle) and Purple Heart.  He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and VFW in Owensboro.  Larry loved to fish, hunt and travel.

Larry was preceded in death by his wives Linda Lee Young and Joyce Rae Young and his brother Malcum Young.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Johnson Young; sons Lee-Ray (Cindy) Killman, Larry (Kristi) Smith and Leon (Toshia) Johnson; daughters Lorrie (Ben) Jones, Paula (Mark) Dommert, Toni (Jim) McDonald , Valerie Owens, Kim (Darrell) Parks, Tina Johnson and Tonia Pate; 25 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter; sisters Ann Abney and Dean (Carl) Burton.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Jimmy Burton officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford with the Ohio County Honor Guard performing Military Rites.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
