UTICA – Kenny Hardesty, 70, of Utica went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Friday, July 24th, 2026 at his home.
Kenny was a 1974 graduate of Ohio County High School. He married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Debbie, on August 3rd, 1974. Kenny spent 40 years working as a coal miner and upon retirement, he loved hunting and woodworking. He was a dedicated member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he served as past Sunday School Director and Trustee. When Kenny was no longer able to attend in person, he read his Bible and became a faithful prayer warrior to many. Kenny came to realize he was still being used by God, praying and asking those he came in contact with if they knew Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Kenny’s scripture verse in his final years was Acts 20:24 “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ada Mae Poole Hardesty.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Debbie Hardesty; sister, Katherine Hardesty Myers of Philpot; brother, Josh (Fara) Hardesty of Bowling Green; mother-in-law, Ella Mae Cambron; sisters-in-law, Brenda (Lanny) Likens and Carla Stout; along with several nieces and nephews.
