HARTFORD – Judith Bartlett Moore, 84, of Hartford passed away February 22nd, 2026 at Ohio County Healthcare. She was born on August 29th, 1941 to the late Lawrence D. and Martha Allen Bartlett.
Judith worked for many years as a clerk at different surface mines for Peabody Coal Company, and later retired from H.B. Stanley, Inc. in Beaver Dam as an office manager. She was a member of Hartford Christian Church where she taught youth Sunday school class, directed the youth choir and sang in the adult choir. Judith was a past President of The Woman’s Club of Hartford, a Past Regent of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Fort Hartford Chapter, a member of the Mayflower Society Kentucky Chapter. She was the first female ever elected to serve as a member of the Hartford City Council for two terms. At the time of her death, she was one of three citizens to be serving on the Ethics Committee for the City of Hartford.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Judge and Mrs. Clarence Bartlett of Hartford and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Allen of Beda; her youngest son, Gregory Allen Moore; sister and brother-in-law, Neal and Sandra Bartlett Hendricks.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Scott Moore (Sheri Newcom) of Hartford; daughter, Rebecca Moore Mosgrove (William) of Philpot; grandchildren, Michael Shane Doss (Hanna) of Greenville, Zachery Freeman of Texas, Kayla Newcom (Garrett Stevens) of Hartford, Kyle Newcom (Sara) of Morgantown; great-grandchildren, Kensley Marie Doss, Laney Newcom, Cameron Newcom and Preston Newcom; brother, Clarence Dudley Bartlett of Hartford; and sister-in-law, Rollia Moore Knight of Louisville; all of her Allen and Bartlett cousins, whom she loved; a special group of long-time beloved friends, Sharon Brown Stokes, Elaine Hurst Seitz, Gaye Maden Thamann and the ones that have passed on, Brooke Hunter Goff, Susan Hunter Ganote and Deloris Mills Eskridge who all enjoyed traveling together and called themselves “The Hartford Girls – One For All and All for One.”
Services will be held Saturday, February 28th, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Online messages of condolence may be sent to bevilbrosfuneralhomes.com.
