Dennis Coleman

Dennis Wayne Coleman, 69, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

Dennis was born on February 5, 1957, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late Harold “Chick” Coleman and Surfronia “Shonie” Coleman. Known to many as “Big D,” “D-Boy,” or simply “Den,” he was a proud Kentuckian whose life was defined by hard work, unwavering devotion to his family, and a quiet, gentle strength.

On July 10, 1982, he married the love of his life, Alisa Barnwell Coleman. Together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alisa Coleman; his daughters, Taylor (Charlie) Orihuela and Alexis (Kye) Dixon; his sister, Vicki (Ken) Snarr; his brother, Joe (Edie) Coleman; and his six beloved grandchildren, Ryder Coleman, Emory Dixon, Grayson Dixon, Noah Orihuela, Griffin Orihuela, and Ariya Orihuela.

Nothing brought Dennis greater happiness than being “Granddad” to his six grandchildren. He treasured every opportunity to be with them—whether it was helping with school drop-offs and pick-ups, wrestling on the floor, spending days on the lake, or simply making them laugh. They were the light of his life, and he never missed a chance to be there for them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold “Chick” Coleman and Surfronia “Shonie” Coleman, and his brother, Harold Blaine (Terry) Coleman.

Dennis was a proud farmer and worked for many years as a land reclamation specialist. Alongside his brothers, he helped build the family businesses, Coleman Farms and Coleman Brothers Incorporated, creating a legacy of hard work, faith, family, and stewardship of the land that continues today through his brother and nephews. He took great pride in the work of his hands and in providing for those he loved.

Later in life, Dennis found the Lord and became a faithful member of the Beaver Dam Church of Christ. His faith was reflected not only in what he believed, but in the way he treated others—with kindness, humility, grace, and quiet service.

Dennis loved the life he built. He found joy in farming, working in his yard, cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats, spending time on the lake, and making memories with his family. He was deeply patriotic and loved his country, taking great pride in the freedoms and values he held dear.

Those who knew Dennis will remember a man who was kind, gentle, loyal, and dependable. He was tough on the football field in his younger years, yet had an incredibly tender heart. He believed a man’s word mattered, hard work was honorable, family came first, and faith gave life its purpose. He never hesitated to stop and help someone in need—or, in true Dennis fashion, even helping catch a bank robber in his younger days. He showed his love through quiet sacrifice, unwavering support, and simply always being there. A devoted husband, father, Granddad, brother, uncle, and friend, Dennis leaves behind a legacy of faith, integrity, unconditional love, and a life well lived that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
