David Ray Keith

January 25, 1949 — February 26, 2018

David Ray Keith, 69 of Hammond, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved son of the late Wavy B. and Ethel Ernestine (Basham) Keith; loving brother of Ronald (Helen) Keith, Jean (Larry) Nichols, June (Tom) Smith, Landa (Bill) Baum, Rita (George) VanHoutegen, late Wendell (Betty) Keith and late Dale (Kay) Keith; proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 8:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with Pastor William Hall of the Whiting Baptist Church, officiating; interment on Saturday, March 3, 2018, 1:00pm (CST) at Sunnyside Cemetery, Beaver Dam, Kentucky; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00pm.

David Ray was born on January 25, 1949 in Ohio County, Kentucky. He was a longtime resident of the Calumet Region and was a graduate of Whiting High School. He was a US Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict, was a retiree of the US Steel Company, East Chicago with over 30 years of service and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed “Westerns”. Devoted to his family, David Ray will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Baptist Church, would be appreciated.
