David Allen Johnson

CENTERTOWN- David Allen Johnson “Coonhunter”, 66 years old, of Centertown passed away at his home on June 26th, 2025, peacefully in his home. David was born August 24th, 1958, to the late Lelan Ray and the late Evia Irene Johnson. He was a cherished husband, father, papaw, brother, son in law, friend, and member of the Walton’s Creek Baptist Church. David was a retired coal miner of over 40 years, an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He enjoyed westerns, The Andy Griffith Show, and spending time with his beloved family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepsister, Melva Pendley.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Sally Jo’el Johnson; his three beloved daughters, Leslie Crowe (Jeremy) of Hartford, KY, Lisa Zlatovic (Senad) of Rogers, AR, and Gina Johnson (Kyle Martin) of Harford, KY; seven beautiful granddaughters, Eva Grace, Adley Joelle, Lyla Jane, Minka Grace, Mila Bradley, Remi Cate, Kinsley Grace, and one baby boy coming soon; two sisters, Shirley Grundy (Thurman) of Central City, and Kathy Hardin of Kuttawa, KY; four brothers, Danny Johnson of Kuttawa, KY, Stan Johnson (Sherry) of Morgantown, KY, Vernon Johnson of Morgantown, KY, and Eric Johnson of Kuttawa, KY; his stepmother, Ruby Suddath Johnson; one stepsister, Reda Casebier (Scott) of Beechmont, KY; two stepbrothers, Alton Gaines (Lisa) of Beechmont, KY, and Rodney Gaines (Meredith) of Greenville, KY; two brother in laws, Jeff Bishop of Centertown, KY and Joe Bishop (Melinda) of Centertown, KY; one uncle, Bobby Johnson of Gilbertsville, KY; several nieces and nephews; and his mother in law, Grace Bishop of Centertown, KY.

A service will be held at 2:00 pm June 30th,2025 at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Barry Davis officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Walton’s Creek Cemetery.
