Clyde Elmer “Snake” McCown

May 13, 1948 – August 26, 2026

Clyde Elmer “Snake” McCown, 78, of Cromwell, Kentucky, passed away on August 26, 2026. He was born in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, on May 13, 1948.

Snake was a hard worker all his life. He spent many years working in the coal mines, driving a coal truck, and operating heavy machinery. He was also a proud business owner, owning and operating his own trucking company. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, determination, and dedication.

While Snake was a hardworking man, his greatest joy in life was his family. He loved spending time with his loved ones, and his grandchildren truly were his world. He cherished the time he spent with them and leaves behind countless memories that his family will hold close to their hearts. Snake also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his children, Jason McCown (Audra Cleaveland) and Donnie McCown; and his beloved grandchildren, Brylee McCown, Bella McCown, Aunya McCown, and Riley McCown; sisters, Vickie (Dwight) Mink and Bernice (the late Donald) Kirby; sister-in-law, Sherry McCown; brothers, Michael (Kimberly) McCown, and Wendell McCown; as well as his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

Snake was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth McCown and Gary (Louise) McCown; nephew Jeffery McCown.

Snake will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his hardworking hands, his love of family, his enjoyment of fishing, and most of all, the love he had for his grandchildren. Though he is no longer here, the memories he made and the love he gave will remain with his family and loved ones forever. His greatest legacy was not the work of his hands, but the love he gave to his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
