Cecil(Buckwheat) Wayne Roeder

May 7, 1955 — January 15, 2023

Beaver Dam- Cecil Wayne Roeder, 67, passed away surrounded by friends Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Heartford House in Owensboro.

Buckwheat, as known by many, was born May 7, 1955 in Hartford to the late Cecil Owen and Ora “Billie” Austin Roeder.

He graduated from Ohio County High School in 1973 and went on to work at Barmett Industries for several years.  He received his Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology in 1993 and also studied International Society of Appraisers at the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Buckwheat was a proud Kentucky Wildcat fan and loved cheering on any college basketball team with his dog Train.  He was the founder of the Indian Relic and Archeological Book Sales with a membership of 735 people from all over the country.  His greatest joy came from finding his precious antiques and apprasing them.

In addition to his parents, Buckwheat was preceded in death by his brother Michael R. Roeder.

He is survived by his sister Sharon Roeder Autry(Kenny) and his good friend Jerry Southard(Barbara).

Buckwheat spent his life collecting his prize antique collection.  Just like his antiques, Buckwheat was a prize possession to his friends and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Donnie Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in Central Grove Cemetery near Centertown.  Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 at the funeral home Friday.
