Billy Ray Tichenor

CENTERTOWN – Billy Ray Tichenor, 81, of Centertown passed peacefully at home on July 14th, 2026. He was born October 16th, 1944 to the late Carl Tichenor and Floreda Venerable Brown.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 61 ½ years, Sharon Ann Duncan Tichenor.

Bill leaves behind his children, Sharilyn (Barry “Tony”) Ward, Greg (Lori) Tichenor, Kristy (John) Keown and Cheri (Ken) Frederick. He had several grandchildren that will miss him dearly, Tara (Nathan Rucker) Ward, Meredith (Paul) Richardson, Chase Ward, Nicole (Wade) Chilmonik, Scott (Amber) Tichenor, Jensen (Scotty) Smith, Arielle (Brett) Renfrow and Ethan Tichenor. He also had 15 beautiful, fun great-grandchildren.

Bill loved sports, especially baseball and basketball. He coached several youth baseball teams and even went to State with them. Many memories were made at the ballfields as he played Men’s and Co-Ed Softball. He was even known as “The Six-Million-Dollar Man” because he walked to the plate, barely swung the bat, and hit a homerun! Good thing, because there was a reason his nickname was NOT “The Flash!”

Bill loved his home and his farm. He worked hard to turn a tiny, dirty, bump in the road into the beautiful place it is today. Bill will be missed by his family, classmates, friends and neighbors. He always had something witty to say. When asked about why the chicken houses stunk so badly, he would sniff, grin and say, “They smell like money to me!”

Services will be held Friday, July 17th, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 16th, 2026 and again on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
