BOWLING GREEN- Paul W. Hanson, 62, of Bowling Green, KY, formerly of Beaver Dam, KY, escaped the bonds and pain of this world on Monday, February 25, 2019, at his home with his loving wife by his side. Paul was born on February 6, 1957 to Reverend Wesley O. Hanson and the late Gloria Hanson. On July 3, 1977, he married the love of his life, to whom he remained faithful until his last breath.
Paul proudly and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy, traveling the world aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to Ohio County to raise his family, and eventually retired from over-the-road trucking, for he never lost his deep adventurous spirit. Paul, “Pap”, was an avid gardener, having not one, but two green thumbs. He enjoyed drag racing and ice hockey and was a lifelong fan of UK Wildcats basketball. Paul loved to make people laugh, and, having story telling seemingly in his DNA, could keep people entertained for hours.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Frances Burgess.
Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 43 years, Vicki Burgess Hanson of Bowling Green; Children, Jeffery Hanson (Ronda Cox) of Beaver Dam, Natalie (Brian) Holland of Cromwell, Evan (Sarah) Hanson of Cromwell, and Sarah “Kate” (Edward) Monheimer of Frankfort; Father, Wesley Hanson of Hartford; Sister, Janet Hanson of St. Paul, MN; Granddaughters, Caidence, Allison & Emilee Hanson of Cromwell, and Bailey Monheimer of Frankfort; Bonus Grands, Alyssa and Ashley Holland, Raeya Burton, and his special buddy, William (better known to Pap as “Wilbur”); Brother-in-law, Joe (Mary Ann) Burgess, Sister-in-law, Pat (Al) Parke of Scottsville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He remains deeply loved, and will be forever missed and held in the highest regard by any and all who’s lives he touched.
Services are at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, KY with Bro. Greg Hillard officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until time of the service on Saturday. Military honors will be presented by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Online condolences may be sent to bevilbrosfuneralhomes.com
