Beaver Dam- Mary Helen Brown Tichenor, 98, passed away peacefully at her home May 5, 2019 under the care of Hospice and Home Sweet Home. Born March 17, 1921 in Matanzas to the late I.N. Brown and Iva Coffman Brown. She marriedCebern Tichenor on August 1, 1945. Mary loved her family very much. She was a Christian with a kind, gentle and loving spirit. She was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church and loved gospel music. She also loved to walk and crochet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cebern Tichenor and a daughter Karen Tichenor O’Bryant; two brothers Hershel Brown and Newman Brown; sister Pauline James; life-long friend and sister-in-law, Eloise Tichenor Stenberg.
Survivors include her nephew Newman Brown, Jr., nieces Jane Hurt, Sharon Spratt, Brenda Taylor, Myra Brock, Janice Embry, Sandra Hyland, Joyce LaMantia, Nancy Lamberth, Norma Jean Sampson and nephew Vernon Tichenor. Numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. John Cashion officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be private at Centertown Cemetery.
The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Ohio County, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
A very special thank you to Home Sweet Home caregiver Morgan. She loved you , Morgan, as her own, along with Bethany, Lisa, April, Charlene and all who cared for our Aunt Mary. You gave such special care and love. The family appreciates everything the caregivers have done.
