Miss Stevens was a professor of mine at MTSU in the 1960's. She directed the home management laboratory, and while she was one tough teacher, I gained knowledge and learned skills from her that have lasted throughout my life. Thank You, Miss Stevens for your gift of home economics that you passed on to me and other MTSU students!

Helen Stephens was a special friend to all who had the privilege of working with her. She , Wilmer Browning and others in the UK Ag Economic Department would team up and travel across Kentucky assisting County Agents with farm and home management classes. Helen was unique in that she seemed as comfortable in advising farmers as with housewives with their farm and home economic questions. She had such a pleasing and engaging personality. Many have learned from her and her servant - like spirit lives on !

I enjoyed working with Helen, especially in KAFCS and AAFCS. She had a long and productive life and was a friend to so many professionals. I first met her when she was working in Tennessee and learned that she was from Ohio County and a friend of Agnes Foster.

We were sorry to hear that Helen Stevens died on July 22. Helen was a long-time member of our church (Southern Hills UMC) and was a member of the Faith-Susannah Wesley Circle with Virginia. Dennis was a State Swine Extension Specialist and remembers Helen from their time together as Extension Specialists at the University of Kentucky. Helen's family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers during this time. She was a wonderful lady.

So sorry that Helen has passed. Please know that the church members and staff at Southern Hills UMC are thinking of the family at this time and praying for you. Jill Ruhl, Eric Hughes, and Bill Moore have all recently visited Helen. Lori Casey, a chaplain of Palliative Care at Baptist Health is also part of our faith community, and spent time with Helen. May God Bless everyone as they gather to remember Helen.

I was Helen's "Hug Buddy" for many years.
I enjoyed her stories of childhood with her sister on their farm, her years of teaching and many more wonderful stories. I know she is at peace now.
Blessings, Luanne Bullock
