Freda Ford Powell, 87, left her Owensboro home November 7, 2016 to see her Heavenly Father and joined many loved ones.
Freda was born December 9, 1928 to Ethel and Alma (Ferguson) Maiden. She married Douglas R. Ford on April 28, 1947 in Hartford, Ky. They shared two daughters Carol (Joe) Haven and Rita Ford (A.E. McDaniel). She was a member of Horse Branch General Baptist Church. She worked at General Electric for years. Then, she became Head Cook of the Lunchroom at Horse Branch School.
Freda did upholstery, made wedding cakes, and was a grand seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed crafting, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Freda married James Powell on April 18, 2013 and her family doubled. She loved watching her blended family blend.
Freda was proceeded in death by her husband, Douglas Ray Ford, parents, Ethel and Alma (Ferguson) Maiden, two sisters, Wreathel (Witt) Profitt, Charleen (Ray) Beatty, one brother, Gerald Maiden, and two brother in laws, and four sister in laws.
Freda is survived by her husband, James Powell, two daughters, Carol (Joe) Haven, Rita Ford (A.E. McDaniel), two grandchildren, Tinna (Jason) Stanely, Jodi (Shane) Watts, four great grandchildren, Jayden and Jenna Stanley, Mason and Haven Watts, two step daughters, Lisa (Richard) Poirier, Tonya (Jeff) Ratliff, five step grandsons, Ryan (Mary) Poirier, Nathan Poirier, Jordan, Justin, and Tyler Ratliff, 1 step great granddaughter Brooke Poirier, one sister, Macel (Pat) Hayden, three brother in laws, James Lewis Ford, Harry (Jean) Ford, Gerald Thomas Ford. Pam(Dwayne) Bratcher and Bobby (Amy) Renfrow were few of the many children that held a special place in her heart. She had many beloved nieces and nephews.
To say that Freda will be greatly missed is a huge understatement. This world will never be the same, but her family is so thankful that she is now at peace in Heaven.
Services are 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Sonny Whitely and Bro. Terry Tarrence officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
