My family and I were very shocked and sad to learn of Don's passing on November 21, 2017. We wish we had known earlier. Don and Jean were very much loved by our family. We lived next door to Don and Jean in Louisville for a number of years. They were like a second set of parents to us. They would take us camping with them on the weekends and we would enjoy watching their love of square dancing with their group of friends. Jean taught me how to knit so that I could pass it on to my children. Don always had a place to stay whenever he came to Louisville for his treatment in the latter years of his life. He enjoyed being with us and we always enjoyed being with him. They were a very special couple.

Don and Jean were both good friends with us and our family. We knew them through the Camping Colonels club. They were always a joy to be with and they seldom had a cross word for anything. I am sure he is happy to be with Jean.

My Dad was Clyde Horton and he worked with Don at American Airlines. My Dad wanted Dan to know that he gave me a beautiful walking stick that Dan had made for my Dad and it is being put to good use! I am so sorry that I waited too long to get into contact with Dan and hope that his family will know how much I treasure everything that AA had to offer to Dad and his friends like Dan and AO (Alan Owen).

Wonderful memories is what we'll cherish with the passing of Uncle Don. Living out of state, we've spent many nights in their home. We're grateful we made that recent trip to see him, however sad it was to see him struggling so. We will cherish the memories we have of him as we have several items in our home that he used his wood working skills to build. We also cherish the tales he often shared as he talked about his growing-up years in Chicago and his many travels with his wife.

Don and Jean were good friend to "my Don" and I for years. I imagine Don and "my Don," who died October 13 are having a great time together discussing their many years with American Airlines. All the American Airlines friends will miss both of them!

I, Clyde Horton's (American Airlines) daughter, was so sorry to hear about your loss. Don French had made Dad a walking stick that Dad passed on to me, I was too late to thank Mr. French for his beautiful work.
I was VERY sorry to hear of the loss of two great guys.
